We have tested our cameras with Blackmagic Design ATEM. All of the tests were done using the latest version of the PTZOptics firmware. Please make sure you are using the most current drivers for the Blackmagic device.

  • The camera will pull in fine using SDI or HDMI as long as you are using PAL framerates from the camera, and also have the PAL resolution and framerate set accordingly in your ATEM control software.

  • I had no issues pulling in the camera feed (HDMI and SDI) at any PAL framerate 1080p25, 1080i50 and 720p50.

  • Using HDMI, if you set the BM video standard to be 1080p59.94 you can set the camera to be dial setting 0 (1080p60) and get a picture.

  • Using HDMI, if you set the BM video standard to be 1080i59.94 you can set the camera to be dial setting 2 (1080i60) and get a picture.

  • Using HDMI, if you set the BM video standard to be 720p59.94 and you set the camera to be dial setting 4 (720p60) you will get a picture.

  • If you wish to use any of these settings while using the SDI output, that does not work without some kind of framerate converter to turn our solid camera feeds into broadcast ones. Though things work over HDMI without a framerate converter, it seems you do need one for any NTSC framerate and the SDI output.

The main issue with the SDI here is that the Blackmagic ATEM uses 3G-SDI level B and the PTZ optics camera uses 3G-SDI Level A.

If you need to use SDI with your PTZOptics cameras and your Blackmagic ATEM you will have to use a frame rate converter an example of the one we suggest can be found HERE.
