PTZ optics has released a new IP address tool which should allow you to scan your network and set addresses for the cameras. the tool can be found HERE. For instructions about setting up the camera using this tool please refer to the article HERE.

If this tool is not working for you, please follow the following steps to set an IP address for your PTZoptics camera on a mac.

  1. Request a static IP (IP, Subnet mask, Router/Gateway, DNS Server) from your network administrator that will be assigned to the camera
  2. Connect your camera to your existing network that your PC is also connected to
  3. Power on everything
  4. The camera comes with a default static IP address of 192.168.100.88 or 192.168.100.99 (zcam); this can be verified by connecting your PTZOptics camera via USB (to a computer), HDMI or SDI to a display and entering the following sequence of keys on the remote * # 4
  5. Once you have verified the static IP address of the camera we need to set a static IP address for your Mac to communicate with the camera please follow these instructions: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/22161/how-to-set-up-a-static-ip-in-mac-os-x/ to assign your Mac the following static IP address, as long as your camera is currently set to the default static IP of 192.168.100.88 (or 192.168.100.99 for the Zcams);   IP Address: 192.168.100.89 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Router: 192.168.100.1 DNS Server: 8.8.8.8 and click "Apply"
  6. We recommend using the browser Opera for interacting with the PTZOptics camera for complete functionality but all browsers should allow you to make administrative changes to the camera
  7. Open your web browser and type in 192.168.100.88
  8. the username is "admin" and the password is "admin" and click "Login"
  9. Once into the cameras administrative settings click on "Network" along the left side panel
  10. Under "Lan Settings" enter the Static IP information provided from the network administrator into the appropriate fields.
  11. Click "Apply" at the bottom of the page
  12. Click on the "System" option along the left hand side
  13. Click the "Reboot" button
  14. Now you need to go back and change your Mac from having the Static IP address as set in step 5 back to "Using DHCP" or "Automatic"
  15. You should now be able to type in the Static IP address supplied by the network administrator into a browser and reach the camera from any Mac on the network.

Once the IP address has been set it will not change so you should not need to repeat these steps again unless your network configuration changes in the future.

I hope this has been helpful and if there is anything else we can do to assist with the camera please let us know.

Support can be reached M-F 8AM-6PM EST.
